The Government will include in the text of the General State Budgets a temporary law establishing a tax for the wealthy. It will come into effect on January 1, 2023.
The objective of the new law is to address the inflation resulting from the war. Unidas Podemos has celebrated the proposal although they request that it be permanent and not temporary, so they claim they will push until they achieve it.
The Government, for its part, says that the measure is the same as that applied to the energy and banking sectors, and that the evolution of the economic situation will tell us whether the tax will need to be extended or not.
Montero emphasizes that it is necessary to increase the tax burden on those with large fortunes and that they are still studying how to implement it. He defended that it is an effort for those who are in a position to do so.
