The Government approves a moratorium on mortgage payments for those most vulnerable due to the crisis already caused by the coronavirus.

At the regional level, the Minister of Finance and Foreign Relations of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Rosario Sánchez, explained that she had asked banks to offer interest rates close to zero percent to provide liquidity to companies with more than 250 workers, in addition to the possible postponement of mortgage payments and specific aid for the self-employed. “Banks have been very receptive to delaying payments,” said the minister.
It could be a precedent for what could happen in the coming hours or days at the national level.
It is worth noting that the signing of sales and mortgages is halted due to COVID-19, the provision of services by registrars is fully guaranteed (since it is a public service) but through their telematic platforms. On the other hand, the General Council of Notaries indicates that except in cases determined as urgent, the signing of sales and mortgages is completely halted.
With the declaration of the State of Alarm, the deadlines for prescription and expiration of commercial registries, movable and immovable property, as well as notarial documents, are suspended.
