Officially subsidized housing, VPO, is housing whose construction or acquisition is assisted or subsidized by the Public Administration, either by providing the land, the building or its financing, by means of qualified loans. Officially subsidized housing will be that which, dedicated to the habitual and permanent residence of the buyer, having a maximum useful surface area and complying with the conditions, especially with respect to prices and qualities, which are indicated in the rules that regulate it.
Types of subsidized housing:
- Public development: this is carried out, always on a not-for-profit basis, by the State and the competent regional authorities. Different types of VPPL, VPPA, VPT.
- Families whose income is less than 5.5 times the IPREM.
- The maximum usable area may not exceed 90 square meters.
- They may only be used for the buyer's habitual and permanent residence.
- Private Promotion: may be carried out by individuals or legal entities, public or private, for profit or not-for-profit.
- The public administrations provide either the building or the land, the financing, but the construction is carried out through cooperatives or private developers, with economic contributions.
- There are no financial requirements for the awardees, only that they do not have any home of their own.
